Discover Astronomy @ Masjid BJ

The Programme.

For a change, this August holiday, get your children ready for an astronomical experience. We will provide your children with an appreaciation and understanding of how Astronomy, Math and Science relate to Islam.

For instance, we will teach them how to find the direction of Kiblat just by looking at the stars. We will teach them how to identify Venus and Jupiter among the stars and identigy zodiac signs in the sky. They will also learn about the planets, galaxies, nebulae and many more celestial objects.

How by using Maths and Science concepts, your children will be able to construct a Sundial and tell time without a watch. The Sundial is a working Sundial which will be their very own, to use and keep.

We will teach your children about famous Muslim Astronomers of the past, their successes and contributions to the world. Your children will also learn to identify Venus and Jupiter amidst the stars and identify zodiac signs in the night sky, right from the own backyard at Bukit Jelutong, weather permits.

I went to the meeting and the trainers were really impressive! Be ready for an out of the world experience! :) Do send your children for this event, even adults will be amazed with the wealth of knowledge from the trainers.

The volunteers for this programme are agrresively doing the marketing. We are distributing some 2000 brochures at schools, masjid, tution centres, etc. There seems to be a lot of interest and many comment that this is indeed a very good and innovative programme. I am sending two of my kids.

We also receive sponsorship for anak yatim and we are giving a few complimentary "seats" for the schools in BJ. Do register your kids now.

Alhamdullilah, at last a good and interesting program right at our backyard. No excuse now but to register my two kids. I hope others will take up this opportunity. It not only gives a chance for our kids to be outdoors instead of the malls during holidays or just stuck in front of the tv at home but also to learn and have an understanding that there is more than themselves and bj. Allah creates many things for us to learn from especially the universe. I bet this is going to be better than watching the DISCOVERY channel ;-)!
